=============================================== OpenDarwin 7.2.1 Release Notes - July 16, 2004 =============================================== OpenDarwin 7.2.1 "Coyote" is based on the Darwin 7.2.0 (which corresponds to Mac OS X 10.3.2) source release. It includes additions and modifications from the OpenDarwin CVS Repository. Noteable changes to the OpenDarwin 7.2.1 release: - Install script has been enhanced to allow user creating, setting root password - AuthenticAMD cpu's are now properly detected - cvs from upstream feature releases - locate from NetBSD - at/atrun synced with FreeBSD-5 - various unix software has been updated. - ODTulipDriver, a driver for tulip-based ethernet controllers, has been added. - ncutil, a network configuration tool for Darwin, has been updated to version 2.1 Obtaining the Source Code ========================= The complete source code is either available as the 'src'-module from the OpenDarwin CVS repository or as source RPMs. The CVS repository can be accessed via anonymous cvs or cvsup. anonymous cvs ------------- % cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@cvs.opendarwin.org:/Volumes/src/cvs/od login (hit enter at the password prompt, it's empty) % cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@cvs.opendarwin.org:/Volumes/src/cvs/od \ co -r OD_RELEASE_7_2_1 src cvsup ----- The hostname of the cvsup server is 'cvsup1.opendarwin.org'. These are a few known issue, that apply regardless of the architecture: - am_utils, curl, samba are not built from OpenDarwin cvs, instead they have been built from the Apple tarball - AppleDisplays is installed from a binary tarball, since the available source does not compile - yum is not working due to the missing python hooks of rpm Licensing Information ===================== The contents of the OpenDarwin 7.2.1 CD image are covered by several licenses: * The Apple-developed portions of the Source Code and corresponding binary package folders are covered by the Apple Public Source License Version 1.2. * A few Apple-provided drivers are only available as binaries, and are covered by the Apple Binary Driver Software License Agreement. The drivers covered by this license are located in /System/Installation/binary_drivers/ on the Install CD image. * Other portions of OpenDarwin 7.2.1 may be covered by third party licenses.
